About Me

I live on the edge of the New Forest. I've been sewing since I made my first doll's clothes aged about 5, and making teddy bears for about 8 years, originally just for myself and friends using bought patterns. Then I began to make my own designs, and was pleased to find that people were happy to buy them and so Southway Bears was born. The bears are made using a 'Jones' hand sewing machine that belonged to my Grandmother and dates from the Edwardian era!!! I love making bears and hope that that shows in the finished results. I am a member of the British Toymakers Guild.

This is the Jones sewing machine that I use to make my bears.
